Enzygo is a leading environmental consultancy with a reputation for providing solutions for the most complex infrastructure and development projects. Their wide range of services support major infrastructure projects, residential housing schemes and renewable energy programmes.
They have expertise across a wide range of disciplines including Planning, Hydrology and Drainage, Environmental Impact Assessments, Permitting and Regulation, Landscape, Ecology, Transport, Geoenvironmental and Hydrology, Noise and Vibration, Air Quality and Arboriculture.
This wide range of disciplines means that Enzygo has implemented the full suite of KTF Software products: BricsCAD, KeyTERRA-FIRMA, ZTV, Qscape and Qarb.
At the core of most design companies is CAD software. The choice to use BricsCAD was a simple one for Enzygo due to its compatibility, affordability, and robust functionality, making it the ideal foundation for any project. A testament to satisfaction, they have been using BricsCAD for almost 10 years.
Having previously used AutoCAD LT® and QGIS to transform data from Lidar (TIFF) to CSV and then overwrite the extension to generate XYZ files, BricsCAD Pro provides a hugely compelling and affordable alternative.
It provides the essential framework that supports the entire project journey, from conceptualization to completion. Enzygo has found BricsCAD to be cost-effective, without compromising on the advanced 3D modeling capabilities that their multidisciplinary projects demand.
Enzygo’s CAD Manager, Lee Blakely told me, “BricsCAD is a good tool with 3D capabilities that is a cost-effective alternative to its competitors.”
KeyTERRA-FIRMA plays a pivotal role in the early stages of a project, where accurate site information is crucial. By enabling detailed ground modeling and topographical data analysis, sections, and volume calculations, KeyTERRA-FIRMA allows Enzygo to make informed decisions about the site layout and design before any physical work begins. This helps the team assess factors like ground conditions and site viability.
Lee went on to tell me, “Being able to use Lidar data and take sections from this has allowed for quick examinations of ground levels and slope profiles to gain an initial understanding of the ground profiles which we are working with. This allows us to make assessments without the need of a topo survey in some cases.”
Senior Environmental Hydrologist, Helena Du-Roe explained the benefits of KeyTERRA-FIRMA from a hydrology perspective. “It allows for easier interrogation of ground models and can be used to easily design storage basins and swales” and “KTF allows us to provide early information to our clients regarding cut and fill quantities. By doing this early in the design process, they can have a better understanding of the site requirements.”
Once the site conditions are analyzed, Qarb comes into play, offering Enzygo the ability to provide the design team with Tree Protection Plans. With Qarb, the team can make important decisions on which trees to retain, remove, or protect, ensuring that the project aligns with environmental best practices and planning requirements.
We recently visited the Enzygo Arboriculture team to demonstrate how Qarb can be integrated with their tree surveying software for an enhanced workflow to produce high quality DWG-based plans.
Understanding the visual impact of a proposed development is crucial. ZTV (Zone of Theoretical Visibility) allows Enzygo to assess how the development will be viewed from various vantage points, ensuring that the visual footprint is carefully managed. This is essential for projects involving sensitive landscapes or areas with strict planning regulations regarding visual impact.
Once the site has been designed and all decisions about the layout are made, Qscape comes into the picture to efficiently produce high quality design documents, support planning approvals and deliver detailed, buildable proposals to contractors.
This tool enables Enzygo to design attractive and functional landscapes that meet both the immediate project needs and long-term usability. Whether it’s planning green spaces, creating future maintenance plans, or enhancing the overall visual appeal, Qscape helps tie the project together.
By using this full suite of KTF Software solutions, Enzygo has dramatically improved their project workflows. KeyTERRA-FIRMA, Qarb, ZTV, and Qscape not only streamline processes but also offer advanced decision-making capabilities at each critical stage of the project journey. This holistic approach has led to several benefits:
Enzygo’s success using KTF Software has not only improved their current project delivery but also sets the stage for future growth. Lee and Helena have told me that they look forward to further exploring the advanced features of KTF solutions, ensuring that their team continues to lead the way in environmental consultancy.
Enzygo’s journey with KTF Software showcases the power of a fully integrated CAD system. From early ground analysis with KeyTERRA-FIRMA to the final touches with Qscape, KTF’s tools have enabled Enzygo to deliver projects efficiently, accurately, and cost-effectively. BricsCADs powerful CAD engine underpins this journey, proving that an affordable solution can deliver high-impact results.
For any company looking to streamline their project processes while maintaining high standards of quality, Enzygo’s experience with KTF Software serves as a compelling case for adopting these tools.
Like Enzygo, you can take advantage of powerful CAD tools with an easy learning curve that can help you create detailed and accurate plans that are compatible with your customers.
