Important Updates to BricsCAD Licensing for 2026

What’s changing and why it matters

Bricsys have announced some updates to the BricsCAD licensing structure that begin in early 2026. These changes support their continued investment in product innovation, customer support and the overall stability of the BricsCAD platform.

At KTF Software, our aim is to make these updates clear so you can plan confidently for the year ahead.

The key update: upgrade eligibility is changing

From 1 January 2026, Bricsys are updating the rules around upgrading older versions of BricsCAD.

After this date, customers using versions that are more than three releases behind will no longer be eligible for direct upgrades. This means customers on older versions will need to move to a current licence path instead of upgrading from their existing version.

This change is designed to ensure that all customers benefit from the latest performance improvements, compatibility updates and support.

A good time to get current

To support customers who want to bring their licences up to date smoothly, Bricsys have introduced a limited-time BricsCAD V26 Upgrade Promotion. This provides a helpful window for anyone on older versions, back to V14,  to move to the latest release before the new eligibility rules begin.

Upgrading now ensures you stay within the supported upgrade path and gives your team access to the newest tools and enhancements in BricsCAD V26.

What this means for your organisation

If you’re already using a recent version, nothing changes immediately.
If you’re on an older version, this year is a good opportunity to review your setup and decide the best long-term path for your team.

If you’re unsure whether you fall within the current upgrade eligibility window, we can check your licences for you.

We're here to help

Whether you want clarity on your current version, help planning ahead, or guidance on the V26 Upgrade Promotion, our team is here to support you.
