KTF Pointcloud V5 is now available.
This release adds support for BricsCAD V26, while maintaining support for BricsCAD V25, and introduces several new tools aimed primarily at ground survey workflows.
The focus of this update is practical control when working with point cloud data, particularly where terrain is irregular or where surfaces change frequently.
A new command line option has been added to the Spot Height tool.
This allows spot heights to be placed near feature lines and then automatically moved onto the feature line itself, while retaining the Z value from the correct side of the line.
This is useful where feature lines represent a change in surface or level, such as:
Paved areas adjacent to soft landscape
Low retaining walls
Margins between different ground finishes
Additional options allow spot heights to align with the feature line and control whether the text appears above or below it.
V5 introduces a new TIN Crop Solids panel.
TIN Crop Solids are crop solids created directly from a TIN surface.
This is particularly useful for topographical surveys where terrain is sloping or uneven.
Typical uses include:
Slicing undulating point clouds to aid mapping of ground level features
Working at a fixed height above ground level, such as measuring or drawing tree stems
TIN Crop Solids behave like standard crop solids and can be edited, adjusted, saved, and restored as required.
Spot heights can be reviewed and removed, with the TIN surface healing automatically where edits are made.
This allows a cleaner surface to be produced before generating contours or sections.
Once a TIN surface has been created, contours and sections can be generated using BricsCAD’s native tools.
This allows:
Extraction of major and minor contours as polylines
Creation of section lines and section views directly from the TIN surface
These workflows stay entirely within BricsCAD.
For measured building surveys, the Door tool has been enhanced to include:
Door thickness control
A double door option
A new Window tool has also been added to complement the existing workflow.
Additional updates include:
Grid based spot height creation
Improved snapping behaviour
New drawing and selection tools
General performance improvements and fixes
Full details are available in the release notes.
A walkthrough video demonstrating the new features and workflows is available.
